Guest Blogger: Katie King

My blogging friend Tracy asked me to help her out while she is in Jamaica for the week!  I jumped at the opportunity because I truly admire Tracy's work, and I thought it would be a great chance for me to connect with her audience!

My name is Katie King and I blog over at Queen of the First Grade Jungle.   I hope you will hop over to check me out.

Today I wanted to share a couple of writing templates that I plan to use to help my students get back into the swing of things after Spring Break.

Students naturally want to share about their activities so I included a thinking map and template for general Spring Break writing.

I also included a little higher level thinking activity for my kids.  I want them to think about how you can be happy and sad about something at the same time.  I am going to help them map ideas of why they may be excited/happy to be back at school.  I also want them to think about things that they will miss about Spring Break (for me this is sunshine and sleep :) ).

I hope you enjoyed these simple, but fun freebies!  Thank you so much for letting me drop by Tracy!

  1. Love the freebies Katie! I love the idea of challenging them to recognize that you can be happy and sad at the same time. I know that's something even my 2nd graders struggle with. I'm interested to see how they do with this!

Thank you so much for sharing! Enjoy the rest of your break :)
