In the midst of enjoying my summer with family, friends, and my puppy dog –
I realize it is time to start thinking about organizing my room. Our rooms were painted this summer, so I literally feel like I am starting from scratch since every single thing had to be packed into a box. I guess it doesn’t help that I am changing my theme for the third time in my three years of teaching!
My first mini-organization project was for my extra crayons. In the past each student has been responsible for their own supplies. I hated it. So this year I am going to test out community supplies. I wanted to have a place for extra crayons.
I bought a 5 drawer and 3 drawer Sterilite Mini-Desktop Organizers and stacked them. I grabbed these at Walmart but I know other places carry them as well.
You can grab these freebie labels by clicking on the picture below!
This looks great...where are you going to put it in your room? Are you allowing the kids to have access or are you giving it out as you need to?
ReplyDeleteYou are so organized! I love it!

Doodling Around in 6th Grade
Thanks Jenn! These are going to sit on my back counter. These will be a backup for kids to use if they need a color that is not in their table's supply bin or if another student is currently using the color they need. :)
DeleteThis is so cute!! I organize my crayons like this too but just had plain labels--I can't wait to spice them up!!!

I'm an organization junkie. I organize my construction paper in drawers similar to the way you do your crayons! Thanks for the freebie. It makes me wanna run over to Wal-Mart right now.

Tracy, that is a great idea. Several years ago, I actually bought several boxes of red crayons from Dick Blick. Red seems to be the color that is the biggest problem in my class. I'm always telling them, just use the "pinkyred". haha Thanks for sharing!

Falling Into First
Just what I needed! I am doing the same sort of thing but for my scrap construction paper. This will work perfectly. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea! I always just kept a big basket of extra crayons and the kids were always digging for the colors they need. This is so simple! Thanks!

Can you tell me where you got your Math Strategies posters and Reading Comprehension posters. I would really like to use them in my classroom. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love your labels!! What size are they? They fit perfectly in my drawers and I'd like to make some for other materials :)

Rowdy in Room 300
I love this crayon organization! Crayons are the bane of my existence...they are always missing and the kids didn't keep them sorted the way I had them for the past few years (in color cups in a bin). I think this will be easier for them to manage. Thanks for sharing! What KG font did you use for the labels? I love it but couldn't figure it out when I looked through all of them!
