Silence for Sandy Hook Elementary

Yesterday I received an email from my mom letting me know that there was a shooting in an elementary school in Connecticut.
I sat at my desk while my kids were at specials and read the email a thousand times.  I didn't know what to do.
Should I look up more information?  Should I distract myself?
I chose the second option and put myself to work.
When I picked my kids up from special, I wasn't worried about them walking in a straight line and being silent in the hallway.
I was happy to see their smiling faces and their vivacious personalities.
I enjoyed their laughter and their stories.
When we returned to the room, my kids had completed fabulous space projects to share.  As I watched each one teach the class about Jupiter, Mars, and constellations my eyes welled up.
The only thing running through my head was that I am
SO LUCKY
to be able to spend each day with them.  We never know what tomorrow will bring so grab today with both hands and jump in whole-heartedly.

Kiss your family,
snuggle your pets,
hug your kids,
love your neighbors,
and thank God for having today.
