Picture Pile Up

I have been MIA because of a long list of things going on.
So let me catch you up with some photos!
My beautiful sister is expecting a baby boy
Colton Gabriel
in February.
We hosted her shower here last weekend.

Here is the invitation I created!

Here's the candy bar and banner!

Here are the favors.  My younger sister's idea and I created the tags!

Here are the favors close up :)

My teammate and I have been working on our Economics Unit with our kiddos.  With each Social Studies and Science unit we have done thus far, we have created either an optional at-home activity or in this case, a required in school project.  We hosted our own Biz Town.  In each of our classrooms we created our own community, in which she and I were the mayors.  Yesterday my kids visited her community and today her kids visited my community.  The students had to decide what kind of business they wanted to have and whether they would provide a good or a service.  If they were providing a good we sent a letter home to parents asking for permission since they would have to purchase materials.  The kids then wrote up a business plan, where they had to include why their business was needed in the community, why this was a good business for them to run, what materials they needed, and designed their store.  The students did a FABULOUS job!! Today when we were praising them for their hard work my teammate and I both teared up.  We were so proud!!   Some of the businesses included were:  BankerCandy ShopSchool StorePost OfficeDance StudioSnack ShopJewelry ShopSports StoreShoppers were given a reusable tote bag (donated from a parent's company that changed their logo) and $20 to spend.  Here is a little tour of my community!
They filled out invoices for their customers!
This is two of the boys in my class's store.  How adorable!

One girl even brought in a blazer to wear so she could
"look like a professional."  :)
That is our Art teacher getting her nails done!

Since our students worked SO HARD, on Friday they are having a special treat.  We are doing DIBELS testing and have substitutes in our rooms.  Both reading classes just finished books that are movies so since the students will be enjoying the movies we invited them to wear PJ's in celebration of them being Professional Junior Business Owners :)
